Steve Davis

 

Steve Davis ~ Princeton High School

Steve graduated from Princeton High School in 1970 and from SCSU in 1974 with a major in social studies. Steve became the head coach at Princeton High School in 1980 and coached there until 2003.   His overall record was 270-218 with 3 conference championships and 4 section final appearances. He also coached VFW for 7 years and youth baseball for 5 years. Steve coached in the Lions All Star Series in 1999. He also coached football and girls basketball. Steve would like to thank his assistant coaches John Gloege, Dick Ungar, Mike Saari, and Jesse Zimmer. He would also like to thank his program volunteers and especially his players. Steve would also like to thank his wife, Dona, and his children, Sheless and Mathew for the support and encouragement they gave him over his 24 years of coaching baseball.

 

David Glenn

 

David Glenn ~ Minnehaha Academy

David graduated from North Shore High School in Glen Head, New York in 1960 and from St. Olaf College in 1964.  He earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the U of M in 1972. David began his baseball coaching career at Minnehaha Academy in 1966. He was head coach for 41 years with 1 year as JV coach. His career record over those 41 years was 372-407. His teams won 5 conference championships, was district/sub section champions 6 times, and received several conference coach of the year honors. David coached in the Lions All-Star Series in 1992. He coached summer baseball for many years in Burnsville and Minnehaha Academy. David also coached football and basketball. In 2013 he was inducted into the Minnehaha Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. He retired from teaching in 2008. David and his wife, Nancy, just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May. They have two children, Kari and Scott, and 4 grandchildren. David would like to thank Nancy, his wife, for her support over the years. He would also like to thank his many assistant coaches for their help and support, especially Scott Glenn (current baseball coach at Minnehaha), Josh Thurow, Chris Drossell, and Rick Bowles.

 

David Lane

 

David Lane ~ Mayer Lutheran High School

David graduated from Mayer Lutheran High School in 1971 and from Augsburg College in 1974. He has been head coach at Mayer Lutheran High School for 34 years. During that time David’s teams have participated in 4 state tournaments. David coached in the Lions All-Star Series in 1998. David has been married to his wife Deb for 34 years. They have four children, Matt, Katie, Marcus, and Ryan. Ryan is one of his assistant coaches at Mayer Lutheran. David and Deb have 3 grandchildren.

 

Lyle Rambow

 

Lyle Rambow ~ Morris Area High School

Lyle graduated from Atwater High School in 1974 and from Minnesota Morris in 1978. Lyle coached baseball for 33 years at Morris with 30 of them being head coach. His career record was 352-295. Lyle’s teams won 5 West Central Conference Championships, 8 district championships and played in 2 state tournaments. Beside coaching Lyle served on the Northern All-Star Series selection committee and still helps run section tournaments. He was very active in the summer program in Morris, coaching and serving in other areas of the game. Lyle also coached football and basketball. Lyle’s favorite saying for his players was: “Play Hard and Have Fun.” Lyle and his wife, Londa, have three children. Courtney who is married to Drew, Chelsey is married to Mike, and Chase is married to Katie. They have 6 grandchildren.

 

Bob Schlagel

 

Bob Schlagel ~ Rush City High School

Bob graduated from Rush City High School in 1970 and from St. Cloud State University in 1975 with a degree in Secondary Education. He began his teaching career at Rush City Public Schools in 1975. Bob was head baseball coach for 37 years from 1976-2012. His career record was 357-298. Bob was also the athletic director and community education director for 30 years. He retired in 2014. Bob is married to his wife Shari. They have 3 children. Cory, Allisa, and Kari who is married to Travis. They have 7 grandchildren.

 

Dick Wasko

 

Dick Wasko ~ St. Paul Johnson High School

Dick graduated from St. Paul Humboldt and St. John’s University. He taught social studies for 31 years. Dick coached baseball at Johnson High School for 30 years. His first 11 years (1959-1969) were as the “B” team coach and the last 19 years (1970-1988) as the head coach. Dick’s teams won St. Paul Conference Championships in 1970-71-72-76 under Wasko and shared the conference title in 1984. Johnson High School won 2 Minneapolis/St. Paul championship games and participated in the 1978 State High School Baseball Tournament. Dick coached in the Lions All Star Series in 1980. He retired from teaching in 1988. Dick married his wife, Jere, in 1958. They have 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Dick and Jere volunteer at a nursing home and enjoy traveling.
